Siobhan Roberts has been practicing Pilates and yoga for more than 25 years and teaching since 2000. Her classical Pilates training began in New York City and the Hudson Valley under Romana Kryzanowska, Joseph Pilates’ chosen successor, as well as Steve Giordano and Leah Chaback-Katz. She has continued her education extensively through advanced studies in Pilates, anatomy, alignment, gait analysis, and movement mechanics.

Her passion for continuing education has led her to study with leading teachers in a wide range of disciplines, including Anatomy Trains with Tom Myers, breath and movement studies with Leslie Kaminoff, Irene Dowd’s year-long anatomy program, and Thai Massage training in Thailand and Canada.

Siobhan has been immersed in the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® since 2005 after first discovering the method in New York City in 1998. She is certified in GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Levels 1 and 2 and serves as a Specialized GYROTONIC® Master Trainer and Authorized Pre-Trainer in both systems.

Her specialized certifications include the GYROTONER®, Jump Stretch Board, Leg Extension Unit, Archway Levels 1 & 2, Ladder, and numerous therapeutic applications including scoliosis, osteoporosis, shoulder and pelvic girdle work, post-rehabilitation movement, neuroplasticity, and training for athletes and equestrians.

As founder of Upstate Movement & Wellness and former owner of multiple movement studios throughout the Hudson Valley, Siobhan is committed to bringing high-level continuing education and mindful movement training to her community. Her teaching combines technical precision, curiosity, and a sense of humor, creating an environment that is both supportive and deeply informed.

MARY BRODKIN

Mary discovered Pilates while attending SUNY New Paltz and soon after began an apprenticeship under Petie Russo, where focused study, observation, and supervised teaching revealed the depth and subtlety of the method.

As part of this training, Mary studied anatomy and movement with Pilates instructor Steve Giordano, developing a strong understanding of the relationship between movement, anatomy, and mind-body awareness.

After relocating to Albany in 2010, Mary continued advanced study and collaboration with Brian Hull at ReCenter Studio, deepening an interest in the interconnected systems of the body and their relationship to movement.

Initially introduced to the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® as a client, Mary completed certification in 2015 following an intensive apprenticeship period. Drawn to the method’s integration of principles found in disciplines such as yoga, dance, and swimming, Mary remains inspired by the depth and adaptability of the GYROTONIC® method.

Through continuing education, [Name] has studied with renowned movement educators including Bob Liekens, Cori Doetzer, Angela Crowley, Sebastian Plettenburg, and Erika Hassan.

Teaching since 2009, Mary has worked with clients of all levels, including athletes, post-rehabilitation clients, and prenatal students, with a focus on helping people develop strength, awareness, and a deeper understanding of their bodies.

AUTUM CASEY

Autum Casey is a lifelong mover dedicated to helping people stay connected to their bodies as they change and age. Her background includes dance, kung fu, and tai chi, along with years of running and cycling.

After seeking a more balanced and integrated approach to movement, Autum discovered Pilates. She received her Mat and Reformer certifications from Pilates Instructor Academy under Amanda Iiams. Her goal is for clients to leave each session feeling both challenged and balanced, with a deeper connection between mind and body.

JENNIFER FRUSTACE

Jennifer Frustace brings over 20 years of experience as a physical therapy clinician, with a background ranging from acute care to outpatient manual therapy. Her work emphasizes a strong anatomical and kinesiological understanding of movement and rehabilitation.

Originally trained in ballet, Jennifer holds a BA in dance and spent nearly two decades as a dancer, developing a deep appreciation for precision, fluidity, and expressive movement. She is also an X-pert certified pole instructor and a Pro PSO National Finalist (2022).

Jennifer continues to expand her movement practice as a GYROTONIC® student under Siobhan Roberts and is currently completing her Level 1 certification.

ERIKA HASSAN

Erika Hassan has worked directly with GYROTONIC® founder Juliu Horvath for more than 30 years and was the first certifier authorized to oversee the GYROKINESIS® certification process.

She teaches internationally throughout Asia, Europe, and the United States, leading advanced trainings in both the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® systems. When in New York City, her home base, Erika periodically offers specialized courses and continuing education programs with the Upstate Movement and Wellness community.

Course offerings with Erika are scheduled throughout the year based on demand. Please contact the studio for upcoming training opportunities.

MALVINA LORIDA

Licensed Acupuncturist

Malvina Lorida is a multidisciplinary practitioner and performance artist whose work bridges movement, holistic health, and community-based healing.

Her background includes a BA in Dance from Hunter College and an MFA in Arts Leadership from Savannah College of Art and Design, where she also founded the All Souls Festival, a project centered on accessibility and inclusion in the arts.

Malvina is an advanced yoga teacher specializing in Meridian Yoga, pre and postnatal yoga, and yoga for cancer and addiction, as well as a comprehensive Pilates instructor. Her personal experience with injury and chronic health challenges guided her toward Traditional Chinese Medicine and integrative health practices.

She is a certified acupressure and acupuncture therapist and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where she focused on detoxification and women’s health. Her work emphasizes the connection between movement, nutrition, and the body’s innate capacity to heal.

Malvina currently teaches acupuncture internationally, leads workshops in cupping and auricular therapy, and is dedicated to expanding access to holistic health education.

Jennifer Martini has worked in the fitness and movement field since the late 1990s. Her passion for health and well-being began as a personal pursuit and evolved into a career supporting others in developing strength, awareness, and balance.

She studied personal training through NASM and later became a certified Ashtanga Yoga teacher after working with instructor Michael Stein. Jennifer discovered Pilates in 2007 through classes with Siobhan Roberts and continued her studies in anatomy with Steve Giordano while apprenticing under Siobhan.

Introduced to the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods in 2008, Jennifer is a Level 1 certified GYROTONIC® instructor and is also certified in Archway Level 1 and Gyrotoner. Her goal is to help clients develop a happy, healthy, and body-aware lifestyle.

After discovering Pilates more than a decade ago, Ori Mora quickly recognized its ability to build strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness. As a massage therapist, she integrates Pilates principles with her anatomical knowledge to help clients release muscle tension and develop healthier movement patterns.

Ori personalizes each session to meet the needs of individual clients, ensuring that people of all ages and fitness levels feel supported while gaining strength and mobility.

She completed her comprehensive Pilates certification through Pilates Sports Center (PSC) in Encino, California. Her continuing education includes Scolio-Pilates workshops with Karena Thek, Anatomy in Three Dimensions with Viktor Uygan through Balanced Body®, and additional training with Chelsea Streifeneder and Jillian Hessel.

A lifelong mover, Meghan grew up in the Hudson Valley dancing and playing sports before graduating from Marist College with a BA in Intercultural Communications. She first discovered Pilates while rehabilitating her back after a car accident and was immediately drawn to its intelligent, restorative approach to movement.

In 2006, Meghan began studying Pilates under the mentorship of Siobhan Roberts and went on to complete comprehensive training on all Pilates apparatus. She is a PMA® certified instructor and has continued her studies with respected teachers including Steve Giordano, Blossom Leilani Crawford, Leah Chaback-Katz, and Power Pilates in New York City.

A trip to India in 2013 deepened Meghan’s interest in yoga, breathwork, and mind-body connection, leading her to complete her 200-hour Hatha Yoga teacher training with Sandy Sooknanan at Dutchess Yoga. Her continued exploration of healing movement practices also inspired advanced study in Thai Yoga Massage and reflexology through the Lotus Palm School.

Meghan later expanded her practice through the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® methods and is certified in GYROTONIC® Level 1, Level 2 Programs 1 & 2, Gyrotoner Program 1, and the GYROKINESIS® Cardiovascular Breathing Course.

Her teaching combines movement, breath, and body awareness to help clients feel stronger, more connected, and more at ease in their bodies.

JOHN ROBERTS, LAC/LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist

John is a board-certified acupuncturist with more than 20 years of experience and a licensed massage therapist with over 27 years in practice. He was first introduced to acupuncture and Chinese medicine while studying abroad through Bennington College at Chengdu University in China.

His interest in martial arts led him to begin his healing arts journey with massage therapy, graduating from the Swedish Institute in 1998. After several years in practice, John sought to deepen his work with patients and enrolled in acupuncture school, graduating in 2005.

Since then, John has operated clinics in Manhattan at the Feldenkrais Institute and in Madison, Wisconsin, and has taught classes and supervised clinics at two massage schools. He recently spent a year practicing at Canyon Ranch in Fort Worth, Texas.

John also practices at Wildflower Farms in Gardiner and offers house calls.

Shannon has two decades of experience in movement and manual body work, and has collaborated with numerous physical therapists over the years to work with clients in pain and repatterning their movement to return to active lives. Charles Mullaly, MS, LAC

Charles Mullaly, MS, LAc, is a board-certified Diplomate in Oriental Medicine through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), the highest level of national certification in the field. He is also certified in Clean Needle Technique by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) and is licensed to practice acupuncture in New York State.

Charles graduated with high honors from the Tri-State College of Acupuncture, one of the oldest acupuncture schools in the United States. His approach integrates Traditional Chinese and Japanese acupuncture techniques with modern Western medical understanding to support both treatment and long-term wellness.

He has trained and conducted clinical rotations in multiple medical specialties, including internal medicine, gynecology, dermatology, traumatology, and pediatrics. Charles has also completed Matt Callison’s Sports Medicine Acupuncture program, specializing in trigger point therapy and rehabilitation for athletic injuries.

Drawing on this background, Charles developed the Mullaly Method™, a specialized approach to treating sports injuries.

Charles does not accept insurance but can provide invoices with ICD-9 or ICD-10 codes for reimbursement.
